Graston Technique

A Proven Method for Fast, Effective Recovery from Soft Tissue Injuries

Soft tissue pain is something everyone deals with at some point in their life. This can be caused by an acute injury or overuse, resulting in stiffness, tension, pain, swelling, and more. The simplest activities can turn into frustrating and uncomfortable experiences when you’re suffering from soft tissue problems.

At Watkins Family Chiropractic, one method we use for treating soft tissue injuries is the Graston Technique.

The Graston Technique is an evidence-based treatment for soft tissue damage that’s used by elite athletes and everyday people across the country. If you’re dealing with soft tissue pain, schedule a free consultation with Watkins Family Chiropractic today.

What Does the Graston Technique Treat?

The Graston Technique was originally used to treat a debilitating knee injury that wasn’t improving from surgery and traditional physical therapy. It proved so successful that its creator teamed with leading medical professionals to expand its application. Today, the Graston Technique is used by countless chiropractors and physical therapists across the nation to treat a wide range of musculoskeletal conditions.

Some of the most common uses include:

  • Knee pain
  • Neck and back pain
  • Hip pain
  • Shoulder pain
  • Tennis Elbow
  • Golfer’s Elbow
  • Fibromyalgia
  • Scar tissue
  • And more!

With the Graston Technique, patients can experience faster recovery, restored function, and relief from pain. It can also protect against reinjury in the future.

How Does the Graston Technique Work?

The Graston Technique uses a set of 6 stainless steel tools specially engineered to treat different areas of the body. These non-invasive tools feature rounded edges and are used by practitioners to first identity areas with fibrotic soft tissue and inflammation. Once the affected areas are identified, the practitioner rubs the tool back and forth across the skin. This increases blood flow to the area and helps break down scar tissue and tight muscles.

When the treatment is complete, patients can experience increased range of motion, reduced inflammation, and pain relief as their body’s natural healing process is accelerated.

Is The Graston Technique Right for Me?

If you’re suffering with stiffness, inflammation, and/or pain in your muscle tissue, the Graston Technique may be able to provide relief. The only way to find out is to meet with a professional that specializes in the method.

Dr. Lindsay Kerr is one of our chiropractors at Watkins, and she is a local Graston Technique specialist in the Twin Cities area.
